Apparently, Mel Gibson's grip on the choir isn't that tight. Apparently, there was an incident at his church which resulted in an another public outburst towards his congregation.
Apparently, Mel didn't take too kindly to being gossiped about, despite parading his girlfriend around at the Wolverine premiere and confirming on Jay Leno that his girlfriend is indeed pregnant, within a month of announcing his impending divorce.
I can't wag my finger too hard at Mel for getting with his life during the separation, but why allow the separation to go on for 3 years? Again, I really can't wag my finger too hard because people in my family pulled the same shit too. Specifically, it was my brother and his wife. Lived separate lives for years; he moved in a girlfriend and her children and unfortunately, the wife mysteriously wound up pregnant at least five times, resulting in my brother having to endure paternity tests and petitions for child support. Sadly, these inconveniences didn't set a fire under his butt to get the divorce ball rolling. But then again, he was pretty broke and she was even more broke, so they probably figured it's cheaper and easier to let the marriage wither on the vine. But Mel has more than enough money to cut his losses and expedite the inevitable.
As for his parishioners, I can relate to them too. All too often, my church's leaders engaged in behavior contrary to the Bible's teachings; sadly, a lot of this shit happened in the 80s when powdering Black male ass was the rule in our community. So indiscretions weren't discussed too loudly; certainly not loud enough for the talk to get back to the specific party.
Mel can't have it both ways. He can't treat his violations of his religious beliefs as talking points/improv for late night talk shows and yet, treat the subject as forbidden among people whom he supposedly share an intimate connection with; religious worship and a common faith. No, they aren't entitled to a blow by blow, but they are entitled to some consideration. He can at least try to seem concerned about his conduct and the future ramifications.
