She really didn't do much, except be conceived, be a lesbian, and be around the Hilton sisters. And yet, Jane Velez-Mitchell, Entertainment Tonight, E!, and various other media outlets treated her with respect.
She was born into the Johnson & Johnson fortune, but was abusing drugs for the majority of her 30 years on Earth; she didn't take care of her diabetes; and she had her adopted child taken away from her because she was out of control.
And yet... she was treated rather gently. No accomplishments, neither personally nor professionally... but, oh so gently, she was treated.
Too bad that wasn't the tack the press adopted when 50 year old Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer who ever lived, and probably the most generous philanthropist in the music industry (thus far), and pretty good father passed away. Mind you, the press reverted back to the behavior that brought them in the most money and ratings. Casey Johnson didn't bring them anything... except another opportunity to lament about squandered youth and the proliferation of prescription drug abuse.
And no... I don't think that Casey Johnson should've been ragged on for falling short, but neither should Michael Jackson, especially after they passed away. Shouting oneself stupid into a grave never made sense to me, but when MJ passed, several questionable members of the press took up that particular sport, ignoring the fact that doing so was highly inappropriate.
I will say this... I hope that Casey doesn't have hacks coming out of the woodwork to 'fill in the blanks', because really, it all seems futile now.
